Why Soft Wash for Fences & Decks?
Wood and vinyl are both easily damaged by the high-pressure washing that works fine on concrete. For wood, excessive pressure raises the grain, splinters the surface, and can drive water deep into the fibers — accelerating rot. For vinyl, high pressure can crack brittle panels, force water behind posts, and leave permanent etching marks. Soft washing cleans these surfaces just as effectively using chemistry instead of brute force.
What We Clean
- Wood privacy fences and picket fences
- Vinyl and PVC fencing
- Wood decks (pressure-treated, cedar, redwood)
- Composite decking (Trex, TimberTech, etc.)
- Pergolas and arbors
- Wooden gates and lattice
What Gets Removed
- Green algae and black mold — the most common fence and deck contaminants in Illinois
- Mildew and weathered grey discoloration on wood
- Tannin staining from leaf contact
- General dirt and grime buildup
- Oxidation on vinyl surfaces
How It Works
Soft washing your deck before staining or sealing is one of the best investments you can make. A clean, contaminant-free surface allows stain and sealant to penetrate and bond properly — dramatically improving coverage, appearance, and longevity. Many stain manufacturers actually require a clean surface as a condition of their warranty.
